The test of constitutional and socio-cultural knowledge of Spain (CCSE test) is an examination test developed by the Cervantes Institute that evaluates, by means of different tasks, the knowledge of the Spanish Constitution and of the Spanish social and cultural reality. It is one of the requirements established in the laws for the acquisition of nationality for residents in Spain.
The CCSE exams are administered in the network of official examination centres of the Instituto Cervantes in Spain. Each year, 10 official exams are held throughout the year on the last Thursday of each month except in December and August. For the year 2025 these are the available dates:

The test consists of five tasks with 25 multiple-choice questions (3 closed answer options), or true/false, on constitutional and socio-cultural knowledge of Spain. To pass the test you will have to answer 15 of the 25 questions correctly.
The test lasts 45 minutes.
The price of the CCSE exam is 85€ and gives the right to two opportunities.

You will receive the APTO, NO APTO or NO PRESENTADO result by post about 20 days after the official exam date. You can also consult this result through your private candidate space on the Instituto Cervantes website. Remember that in no case is the score obtained in the test reported.
From your private space you can download at any time the digital certificate with the verification code that allows you to verify the authenticity of the certificate. This document is valid for four years from the date of issue.
If the result of the exam is NOT PASSED or NOT PRESENTED, you will be able to book the second exam session. Remember that this must be at the same examination centre and within the following 6 months.
